MemSaab Restaurant, well, where can I start? Winner of the Best Indian Restaurant Award at the Nottingham Restaurant Awards in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, as well as being the Runner up in Restaurant of the Year Category in 2008, MemSaab's authentic Indian Cuisine has wowed Nottingham residents as well as gaining coverage in the national press when it was nominated in the Uk's top 5 Curry houses by the Observer newspaper.
For a Nationally acclaimed restaurant, MemSaab's prices are much more reasonable than you might have first thought. Starters, which include foods from a simple Onion Bhaji to Vegetable Samosas, are all priced between £3 and £6, and all are suitable for Vegetarians. The mains, as you might expect, centre around Curries from Tikka to Karahi, although for an award winning restaurant you might be slightly disappointed with the range of main courses, but you won't be disappointed with the quality of the food, especially as they cost only between £9.75 and £12.50. Of course, you can chose between a variety of Rices, sides and breads to accompany your meal for a very small price. Desserts, all of which come for under £5, are an interesting mix between traditional British Desserts and authentic Indian ones, including the Pistachio Kulfi; a pistachio flavoured Indian ice cream, served with mango puree and fresh fruits, and also the Rasmalai; Indian milk patties served in saffron infused sauce, served with edible rose petals.
MemSaab is open from 5.30pm until 10.30pm between Monday and Thursday, 5.30pm until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, an open between 5pm and 10pm on a Sunday, really making it a restaurant for evening diners. They also offer a private dining area, able to seat up to twelve guests, for nights you would prefer to be more intimate. Critically acclaimed with great prices means that MemSaab is a must see restaurant in Nottingham.
